A happy (if slightly belated) New Year to everyone & here we go into our 15th season of the PIGS. What a year it looks like being with some great courses booked up & a tour to Bournemouth where we will play 2 of the top 100 rated golf courses in the England.
Our Money
We started our first meeting of the year on Monday with Guy reporting that we have £741-95 in the bank. However January & February are our most expensive months as we pay out £300 as deposits for this years courses, £150 for engraving & small trophies ready for presentation evening & £50 for Singles winner & runner up. Therefore the amount of flexible cash is around the £250 mark.
Handicap Update
If you are a member of any golf club your handicap will revert to your official one for the start of our golfing events at Easter. Only those few club non-members ( there are only 3 or 4 ) will keep their present PIGS handicap. We would welcome though any player who finds his club handicap falling to request that Nick changes his list into line.
Presentation Evening - Thursday 16th February @ Ruby’s
Cost for the evening is £15 (includes tip) We will meet at Portobello any time after 7-00, for those not wishing to do that go straight to Ruby’s for 8-00. Your Buddy will be in touch.
Singles Competition
Congratulations to Jack Humphries on winning the 2011 title from Dave Finbow, Dave took an early lead over the front holes turning 1 up after the first 9. however Jack put on the pressure & dropped just one shot from the 10th to the 15th & eventually won 4 & 3. Jack raced to Boughton having played 90 minutes of football but after dropping 2 shots on the first hole dropped only 4 more in the next 14 holes, Oh what it is to be young. Like most other years the final was played in November & we really would like to take advantage of the lighter evenings in May to August & play the rounds earlier. Therefore we would like to make the 1st round draw at the AGM on 14th March, so to do this. Your Buddy will be asking you if you want to enter this years singles when he calls you very soon.
2012 Bournemouth Tour Update
There has been a slight alteration to Tee-Off time on day 2, we now will not start until 2-30 at Broadstone this will of course give the late birds a lie in or the shoppers a chance to get those presents for home or you might fancy a morning on the beech (Weather permitting) We will cover the tour at our AGM on the 14th March. Pete needs to collect the balance of the money on the night, so please bring your cheque books.
AGM 14th March @ Portobello 8-00 pm
Last year due to the weather we played our delayed Christmas Trotter at Bewdley & went on to the Portobello for dinner. This year we are offering a round at Boughton with all players paying £9 & then
to the Portobello for dinner at approx £6. If you want to play tell your Buddy when he
calls. Start time 1-00 meet at 12-00. Food before golf is up to you to pay & order.
